Bad Shepherds tour is ON ! |

Rang Pocklington Arts Centre this morning and they have just told me that the Bad Shepherds dates are still on, they said the cancellation rumour is the
result of a spoof email. Great news, really looking forward to Sunday night.

Spoof email? WTF??????
There is something very, very fishy going on here. I'd like to point out that I didn't take the email I received as evidence in itself - I double checked by searching Google's news feed for "Bad Shepherds" which lead me to that Telegraph article. Was the unnamed "spokeman" quoted there (the quote I've reproduced here) the same person that sent the spoof email? I've examined the SMTP headers of the email I received - it's posted from Hotmail (and has a Hotmail reply address). There's no evidence of the sort of faked headers you get in spam or phishing scams. Although someone using what looks like a personal hotmail account to send this sort of stuff rather than a real business email address of the promoter is suspicious in itself.

Hi Tim,
Thursday night i spoke with Troy, he told me that the tour was canceled, but there would be a few dates, probably this weekend. Apperently they've solved the problem... Good for all of us!!! But strange it is.

Does anyone know for sure whether the rest of the tour is now going ahead? Or are this weekend's gigs the only two still taking place?

Hi,
Sorry they're stil fixing what can be fixed. Probably there will be more gigs.. i know this is confusing, i now you out there want te now more ... they're working on it. Give them a fewe dates and if there will be news it be published on their site and you can read it here aswell. And we heard what the problem was, apperently two guys run of... they found a new violin player and percussionist on the spot.. That's what i heard.

OK - I'll leep watching! But planning ahead is getting trickier as it gets closer.
At the moment The Limelight's website certainly still shows it as happening, and Tim's been told it is. On the other hand the Ticketline website shows the Manchester gig as cancelled. But when I bought our tickets from Ticketline in Zavvi they insisted on taking phone numbers, address, email etc so they could inform me "in case there were any problems or changes" etc. Guess what - they've not contacted me at all - yet... So it seems the tour has now been cancelled.
I'm gutted; I hope they manage to salvage something from this tour. From the post Roger started it sounded like it'd be a great night. I desperately want to hear that version of Spirit of Autumn Past! |

If the band have done some interesting reworkings of older songs, it would be nice if they could play them on the Christmas tour, so we get a chance to hear
them.

Possibly, although of course they were specifically designed to play in a quieter acoustic or semi-acoustic environment and with a slimmed-down line-up. Still,
you never know!

If Panic Room can do a couple of Anne-Marie's solo acoustic songs in the middle of a set that's as loud as many MA gigs, then anything is possible.

And if nothing else, I'd take bets that at least Andy Smith's psychedelic jeans will put in the odd appearance!

Does anyone know which line-up will be playing the Christmas gigs yet? Is it the 8-piece band, with Iain, Liam, Anne-Marie and the rest, as shown on this site;
or might it possibly different? I'm thinking of going to York, but am a bit skint, so am holding back with the booking until i know who's playing...

I'm assuming the York GOH gig and the December tour will be the same lineup as the spring tour - Given that it's been publicly stated that Heather will
be rejoining the band (as will Henry Bourne), I can't see any reason to expect any lineup changes.

The line-up will be the full band i.e. the same as for the spring tour earlier this year.

The following has recently appeared on Bad Shepherd's website:
STOP PRESS - RESCUED TOUR DATES! It's been a weird couple of weeks. Three days before our tour was due to begin our promoter/manager suddenly stopped answering his phone and sent an email saying he was 'withdrawing from the project'… Anyway, he's no longer part of the set up, as you can probably imagine, but it was difficult for us to take over the tour the way it was set up. We're really sorry for the inconvenience we've put you through if you'd bought a ticket. And not a little pissed off at ourselves for the gigs we've missed. Though we did manage to rescue the two Pocklington Arts Centre gigs which went down a storm. HOWEVER - we are in the process of rescuing some more gigs. And adding some others. Here's what we've got so far: DEC 5 - The Brook - Southampton CONFIRMED DEC 6 - Trying to secure date DEC 13 - Harlech Theatre - Harlech CONFIRMED We're trying to get a couple of London dates in this space, and maybe Exeter Phoenix. DEC 18 - Picturedrome - Holmfirth CONFIRMED DEC 19 - The Intake Club - Mansfield CONFIRMED DEC 22 - Cox's Yard - Stratford (under negotiation, but possible) So, it looks as though some dates will still happen - but does anybody know if MA will be appearing as support on any of these?? The message on the home page would suggest not and most of them will clash with the real MA tour - but I would like to be absolutely sure before venturing to The Brook - or not!! |

Has anyone who bought tickets for this heard anything about a refund yet?

The dates that I'd booked were refunded without a problem.

I haven't heard anything yet. I wrote to the address that was sent out in that infamous e-mail.
