Saw Doors Alive upstairs and it is indeed a small room. Don't know how everyone will fit on stage - and i've seen MA three times at Trillians in
Newcastle which is cramped to say the least. I think someone mentioned the capacity is around 400 but that would literally be sardine time.

Whoops. You've reminded that I haven't bought a ticket for this yet. So that will be at least one more sale (maybe even 2 or 3)

I have been in the Academy II Newcastle a few times and it isn't that small. Leslie West's Mountain was almost sold out and we could see and move
around no problems. It's just a pity the beer is so crap in there. And Dave I have 3 tickets to buy for the gig still, so the numbers are going to rise!

I agree with Colin, the Academy 2 isn't that small. At a guess I'd say it'll take about 300 people. In my opinion the Academy at Newcastle have a
good system. They tend to book a band into Academy 2 and once the tickets are sold, if there's still demand, they may consider shifting a band downstairs
to the big hall which has a really big stage. I've been in the Academy 2 loads of times and seen some good bands and there's always a good atmosphere
there. It's O2 now rather than "Carling" Academy but I'm not sure if they serve real beer like us real men drink! Personally, I'd rather
see a band in a small but busy venue than a large venue with not many people in it!

Manchester Academy does the same thing - I've quite frequently bought tickets for Academy 3 for gigs that get switched to the larger Academy 2. In one case
(Hayseed Dixie), they even switched to the much bigger Academy 1

Just been on the Newcastle O2 Academy website and the Mostly Autumn gig is now listed as Tuesday 17th November. Any info on this ?

Just received a reply to my e-mail query about this. Website hadn't been updated last time I looked ----- The gig is on 7th Nov - the website date is a error that has occurred during the change over from our old website to the new one Regards Phil |

The tickets say start time is 6.30. Is this a misprint? That's practically a matinee performance

Hi David. I have been to the Academy on several occassions when the band have to be finished for 10pm in order for some party night to take place. This might
be the case for Saturday.

Y & T and support at the Academy last weekend were finished by 9.30. It's normal practice on weekends here, to accomodate the kiddies disco later. And
they only sell lager or shorts, which aren't cheap. But at least the Academy 2 usually has good sound, and a good view of the stage.

Just want to say thanks to the band for a cracking night at the Academy last night, good atmosphere both in the audience and on stage and a great performance
too, along with a promise from Bryan to be back there in the Spring next year.
Nice to hear some older classics like The Last Bright Light and a wonderful Mother Nature which earned a standing ovation !! Nice to see The Mega in good spirits too! Cheers, Ian. |
