I see there's details up of a new Mostly live album, but I'm a wee bit confused. Is it £9.99 (+ p&p) for the first CD then presumably same again
when Part 2 comes out? That would be pushing it to near £25 for a double live album and that's pretty expensive in these times.

Great news that there is finally going to be some more live product out there - long overdue, and glad that this line up is being captured in all its glory. |

Great news - it has been a while since the last live CD and I think MA are at their best live !
Order already placed and counting down until the CD arrives on my doormat ! Stephen C |

I've just looked at M.A Records, and like Jon, I'm not sure if £9.99 is just for Part One, or for both discs?
The website should be a little bit clearer. |

I agree with the previous posters it isn't clear if this is for both albums.
I'll probably wait till both CDs are out before buying them - unless I make it to the Newcastle or York shows that is. |

£9.99 + p&p for the two albums won't fetch the band much income so I would think it's £9.99 for the October release and the same again for the
November one.

I can sort of see both sides of the argument here - hardcore fans are going to be prepared to pay what is effectively £25 for a double album, but this may be
off-putting for new fans who might have been prepared to pay something like £15 for a double album (Although you could argue the "Pass the Clock"
anthology is aimed at them)
Given that we have a postal strike looming I've probably going to be picking the albums up at gigs - is the first one going to be ready by the Burnley gig?

When ever I visit the site these days I wonder what has happened to the enthusiasm of a few years back. When I first started following the band at the
beginning of the decade the forum was a lievly place with plenty of contributors and lot's of interesting exchanges of views. Those on the board seemed
hungry for evry bit of news about the band and every development in their career. Tours, albums and conventions were all eagerly awaited and much discussed.
These days there seems to be a general apathy surrounding the Forum. Gigs go almost unmentioned except by the dedicated handful. We have just had an anouncement concerning the first live release for some years and it has produced a very limited response and most of those seem to be whinging about the price. The announcement contained a PS regarding the recording of a new album. At one time this would have been eagerly seized on by the Forum with some exitement but so far there has not been a single comment about it ! What can we do to get back the enthusiasm of previous years and bring back those contributors who seem to have drifted away let alone encourage some new ones ? MA are a wonderful band who consistantly record superb albums and play great gigs surely there should be more enthusiasm from their fans than we seem to have at the moment. Stephen C |

My theory, which I've put forward before is that the hardcore 50 or so people who used to post here all know each other and most of us are all "friends" on Facebook or other social networking sites where we get instant chat and banter with each other. The old style internet forum like this have had their day.......... |

Some good points there, Steve. Maybe the price discussion is just a sign of these harsh times. The other point on price is about confusion over whether
it's £9.99 for each album or £9.99 for the two together, rather than moans about the price itself. To be fair, the website is a little ambiguous on that
and I can see why people may be unclear. I am 99.9% certain that it's £9.99 per disc (i.e per album) but will check and clarify. £9.99 seems a very
reasonable price for an album to me. What we have here is two albums that make up a set, so people can choose to buy one, the other or both.
An interesting observation too on the new album announcement. Strangely enough when MA were introduced on stage at the Cambridge Rock Festival it was announced that they would be recording a new album later in the year yet nobody seemed to pick up on this or mention it on the forum. |

DT has a very good point about social networks - which makes me think MA need some sort of official presence on Facebook (since nobody uses MySpace any more).
Forums seem to go in fits and starts; this one may be quiet, but some other forums, notably the Panic Room and Karnataka ones are almost dead. Seems the
liveliest ones are those such as The Reasoning's and Touchstone's forums where band members are frequent contributors. I have to say that the often
24-hour delay waiting for moderators to approve posts doesn't help.
Back on topic, I'm looking forward to the live album - it does sound as though the band have taken the time to mix and master this one properly, and I've very pleased that we're getting the entire show rather than a single-disk album of highlights. I'm not too upset that we're missing the Genesis cover as an encore.

It is excellent news that we are getting a full show, Icould just imagine the moans if we had a 1 cd editted version of a live show. If you dont like paying
£20 for two CD's save your money, but the band have to make a living and are not supported by a major label and i think £9.99 per Cd is a pretty fair
price.
As for the new album i hope we have a more up tempo offering than the last two albums and given that Heather is in a much happier frame of mind, lets hope we get some happy uplifting songs, making full use of the vocal talent with lots of great harmonies. Also i presume, hope, pray that Iain Jennings is fully involved in the recording as the last two albums have really missed his input |

Totally agree, I never understood why a band with such a back catologue of original material encored with a cover?! Cheers, Simon |

I can confirm that the price is £9.99 per album, which seems entirely fairly priced to me - after all, the band do need to make a living!
Tim, I have to say that I think you're exaggerating somewhat about waiting 24 hrs for posts to be released. While there may be the odd occasion where there is a longer wait (like the last few days while I have been abroad), personally I check and release posts at least 3 times per day, often more. And then there are several other moderators who do the same. |

Roger - while not every post takes that long, there have been several occasions recently where posts have taken at least a day to appear, presumably when all
the moderators have been offline all day.
Also i presume, hope, pray that Iain Jennings is fully involved in the recording as the last two albums have really missed his inputAgree with that - But I wouldn't expect Iain to contribute to the songwriting, since his songs ought to appear on the next Breathing Space album. Personally (and I expect to get flamed for this), I think Iain's production is one of the biggest reasons why I prefer "Below the Radar" to "Glass Shadows".

Several occasions? At least a day? We'll have to agree to disagree on that one Tm. I'd be interested to hear the other moderators' views.

Hello! How is everyone?
I was so excited to get the newsletter announcing the live double cd release. You all must by now realize how lucky you are to have actual MA show's to attend and hear their music in a live setting. Apart from the rare youtube video, the rest of the world is not so lucky. Any fresh, new, live recording is welcomed, with it's price (and my own opinion is it is a fair one) having to find a way to fit in one's budget. I've been very much absent from this forum, as well as most other's that I used to visit often. My main reason is simply a time factor. As well as that though is simply that most discussions here seem to have been revolved around live gigs. I really do enjoy reading all the posts, and I appreciate the news, reviews, etc. that you all bring. I did however run over my limit long ago of adding my "I'm so jealous" responses. :-) In regards to social networking, I still enjoy Myspace over Facebook when it comes to musical news, or finding new artists. I don't think Facebook currently has a viable format for that. I will however admit to having spent considerable time on Faebook, as it's been a great way of regaining contact with friends from a bygone age. I have two or three musically involved friends at Facebook, and again it's a nice little way of staying in touch with them, but I can't see an entire band making much headway there as yet. Heather, Bryan, etc. having a personal account, though I'm sure not feasable, would be more to Facebooks current layout than a Mostly Autumn account, in my opinion. That said, a big hello out to everyone! Bill |

And welcome back, Bill. |

I can think of one or two occasions where posts have languished for a while, but given the normal traffic on the site, it's not really surprising that we
don't check in every ten minutes, is it? I try and check three or four times during the day (from work, very naughty) but there is rarely anything to
moderate. Simple equation, more posts, more checks to release them.

I think Pete does have a point with his equation above too. We would all love to be kept really busy with posts coming out of our ears. |
